In my words
I love writing, learning, and exploring. I like to organize and plan, be it for work or for my personal projects. I am a creative person with a good imagination. I am not afraid to try new things or to make big decisions.
What distinguishes me?
Well rounded accountant. I have experience managing a wide variety of areas and have successfully worked in varying accounting roles. I have also successfully worked on a few web projects.
Solid writing skills. I am a great, efficient writer and know how to tailor my message to capture users attention. This website is an example of what I can do.
Business process analytical skills. I have analyzed and improved business processes throughout my career. I like to collaborate with others and work together to find new, creative solutions. I can help you analyze your current processes, identify problems, make improvements, and reduce inefficiencies and risks.
Technological know how. From implementing an ERP system to automating manual, repetitive processes, I have successfully completed several IT/Finance projects. You want hour-plus long manual tasks to take seconds? You want to improve your business processes? My goal is to help you find the correct information faster and improve your decision making.
Why Python?
You might wonder, “Why is an accountant so interested in the Python programming language and its libraries?” It is a powerful language now taught by professional accounting bodies due to its versatility, power to solve complex problems, and its relative ease of use. I am a firm believer that Python is an important tool for accountants, especially for those like me who code. Python is also a key tool used in data analysis today.
Why data analysis?
I realize that Python cannot solve all problems and that there are many other tools, like Excel, Tableau, and R, which remain important. That is why I am studying data analysis and the closely related field of business intelligence.
I am currently a student at the University of Sherbrooke (a French language university, based in Québec, Canada). I was doing a graduate degree in IT (GPA 3.25 / 3.30 after 13 credits) and recently changed to a graduate degree in Business Intelligence.
I feel that part of being an accountant is to keep up-to-date on important trends including data analysis. I believe the ability to analyze data and derive conclusions is of critical importance to the future of the accounting profession, offering many benefits including improved decision making that is data driven. As accountants, we work daily with financial data. Why not improve how we analyze this data by using new tools, new methods, good techniques, and present observations in new ways? These are all key elements of data analysis and why I am really motivated to learn about this evolving field of study.
